Education
- Universität Karlsruhe (TH)
International Department
Established in 1825 and, therefore, the oldest of all of the German Institutes of Technology, the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) has long been internationally recognized as one of the leading institutions for the education of engineers worldwide. As a consequence, the region around Karlsruhe offers the highest per capita research and development expenditure in Europe and, correspondingly, the highest density of researchers, scientists and engineers in Germany. In October 2006, the Universität Karlsruhe was awarded the status of 'Elite University', thanks to participation in a national competition hosted by the German Science Foundation.
In 2009, the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and the Universität Karlsruhe will merge to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), a public corporation under Baden-Württemberg law. From then on, the KIT will be a state university with research and teaching and, at the same time, a large-scale research institution of the Helmholtz Association pursuing program-oriented research.

In an era of an ever-increasing tendency towards globalization, it is becoming increasingly important to make the excellent educational opportunities at German universities available to students from abroad. In order to address the ever-increasing trend towards the availability of international college and execuitive Master programs, the University of Karlsruhe has been working in conjunction with some of the world's leading industrial companies, subsequently resulting in the foundation of the Carl Benz School of Engineering and the Hector School of Engineering and Management
